| June 24, 2018 1:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Traffic impacts are expected as Ironman 70.3 Coeur d’Alene triathletes race through town today.

U.S. 95 south from Northwest Boulevard to Missile Base Road will be congested from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Traffic will be delayed because of flagger-controlled intersections from Missle Base Road to the U.S. 95 bridge across Northwest Boulevard. Northbound traffic will be diverted to the southbound lanes, creating two-way traffic. Speed limits will be reduced to 45 miles per hour and shoulder parking will be prohibited.

Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive from Sherman Avenue to Higgens Point will also experience traffic delays from 5-9:30 a.m. with peak hours from 7-9 a.m. Drivers can expect delays and limited access as cyclists will be in both lanes.

Northwest Boulevard from Lakeside Avenue to Hubbard Drive and Government Way from Northwest Boulevard to Hubbard will be closed from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Several downtown streets will be closed for the run portion of the race. Sections of Sherman, Mullan Avenue, Lakeside Avenue and Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, 10th and 11th streets will be closed from 5:30-9:30 a.m.

From 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., road closures include E. Lakeshore Drive and Front, 15th, Ash, 14th, 17th and 19th streets as well as Lost and Young avenues.

Sherman, which has been closed from First to Second streets since Saturday morning, will be closed from Second to 12th from 5:30-9:30 a.m. and to Fifth from 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sherman between First and Second will reopen at 7 p.m.
