Your Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce is working hard for our business members and community at large to make your July one you soon won’t forget.

The Fourth of July Festival, sponsored by Numerica, starts off with the American Heroes parade at 10 a.m. Starting point of the parade route is Sherman Avenue and 15th Street, and the parade moseys down Sherman ending up at Government Way.

The festival continues all day with activities and food vendors in City Park and of course ending our county’s most patriotic holiday with the region’s biggest fireworks display over the lake.

The Chamber of Commerce relies 100 percent on community donations for this show to happen and, even though we have some generous small business members who contribute, we still struggle every year to bill the tab after the show. If you and your family enjoy this magical day in Coeur d’Alene, consider opening your wallet and dropping a donation to the fireworks fund at the Chamber office, throw some bills in the bucket collection during the parade or better yet, jump online now and contribute. A PayPal account can be found on Facebook at Coeur d’Alene Fourth of July Festival — Donate now! We gladly take checks snailed to us too!

The Chamber’s Natural Resource Committee hosts the annual Osprey Tour on July 7. This educational event takes spectators out on the lake to witness the banding of young osprey and to learn about their natural habitat. Boat space is limited and is always a sellout. Be sure to call Joan Ford at our front desk to reserve your space.

Another fun event for our business members is our annual putt putt golf tournament. Hosted by Miller Stauffer Architects, our members team up, dress up and network together for a fun night of non-competitive putting challenges. Did I say non-competitive? Hmmm… July 18 is the date so watch the Chamber’s website for signup details.

And finally, we think it’s important for you to know that the Chamber building acts as the main visitor center for our region. Our lobby sees more than 35,000 visitors a year and, right now, we are seeing visitors from all around the world. It’s impressive to hear so many comments about how beautiful our area is but even more impressive are the comments we get about our citizens — how helpful and accommodating we locals are. Yes, we are helpful, we know this and the Chamber staff and Board of Directors want you to know how proud we are when we hear this and that we hear it on nearly a daily basis. We do live in a glorious area of beauty, but it’s the people who truly make this place magical.

We intend on continuing to represent your interests as best we can, and we thank you for keeping up the great work and attitudes that bring our little spot on this earth global attention for our kindness and hospitality. Nicely done!

Have a safe and spectacular Fourth of July!
