AIRPORT: Smacks of socialism

| June 22, 2018 1:00 AM

Most of us who have moved up here to Idaho love its natural resources, Freedoms and the good Idaho common sense work ethic which has been handed down through generations of conservative patriotic Idahoans. Our laws are old fashioned, black and white. We do not write laws for fashion or social trends. Many of us who have fled from socialistic states like California know that Idaho will stand financially when California’s population seek and need bail outs. Socialistic states/countries often write laws and rules which take a citizens hard work and success and give the benefits to the STATE.

Such are the proposed new rules that the new airport manager has suggested for the Coeur d’Alene Airport. The airport manager has boasted in print and in meetings that he and the county can create new rules that will take over businesses and property from private citizens at the airport. He suggested in public meetings that I attended and recorded that the county will make MILLIONS of profit by taking over these hangar/businesses that the citizens built by not renewing leases or violation of new rules. The airport manager even put a visual screen projection showing how if the airport takes over these private properties, the county will get richer.

History has taught Americans that we ALL benefit when we individuals benefit by our individual hard work. If the personal incentive to succeed is stolen by the government, the state/county loses its tax base and you have a failed state such as Venezuela.

I served and sacrificed with many to fight socialism and communism. I am not too old to continue to say NO, Heck NO!
