Greta ‘Maxine’ Nelson

Greta “Maxine” Nelson was born on Jan. 4, 1928, in Cove, Ark. She went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2018, at the Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Nelson (2006); daughter and son-in-law, Charlene (2015) and Wally McKinnon (2017); sisters, Eldean and Laura; brothers, Wayne and Tracy; and two granddaughters. She is survived by daughter, Newtie M. (Mike) Moore of Spokane Valley, Wash.; granddaughters, Cheri McKinnon of Wallace, Idaho, Ronda (Andy) Jones of Spokane Valley and Brenda (Gary) Kraack of Post Falls, Idaho; Paul Stromberg of Kihei, Hawaii; nine great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

Maxine volunteered at the Post Falls Food Bank for 12 years for a total of more than 7,100 hours. The Food Bank was her second family. She was an inspiration to all who worked with her. She had an exceptional work ethic.

Maxine enjoyed playing cards with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She also enjoyed her trips to the casino with the other seniors in Post Falls.

A celebration of her life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 19, 2018, at the pavilion at Q’emiln Park, 12201 W. Parkway Drive, Post Falls, Idaho.
