The body of a Hayden man reported missing June 10 was found Sunday on a forest trail in the Coeur d’Alene National Forest, reports the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

Lyle O. Anderson was found early Sunday about 1.5 miles from his vehicle that was found Saturday near Forest Service Roads 437 and 1526, east of Hayden Lake.

Anderson’s dog “Kiera” was found with Anderson and appeared to be in good health. The dog was reunited with Anderson’s family with the help of a sheriff’s office animal control officer.

This will be investigated as an unattended death, said a news release from the sheriff’s office.

“The cause of Anderson’s death has not yet been determined, but an autopsy has been scheduled. Since this is still an active investigation, no further information is available for release,” said the news release.

“A special thank you to the Kootenai County Volunteer Search and Rescue (VSAR) for their dedicated service to our community. VSAR had more than 40 of their members actively searching the area on Sunday, Father’s Day.”
