PRESS: Good on government

Local newspapers across the country have eliminated or certainly scaled back any coverage of local government. Local government has the most direct impact on people and the most potential or capability for corruption. I am not saying that is the case here in Kootenai County or Coeur d’Alene.

It is refreshing to see the actual coverage that the Coeur d’Alene Press is providing of local government. The recent coverage of the airport regulations and revisions is very informative. I have met reporter Judd Wilson on two occasions. He asked me questions after the Donkephant event and also the open records event. In my opinion he and the Coeur d’Alene Press are providing excellent coverage of local government meetings. That is an area that I believe is essential for the public to know and is certainly in the best interest of our community. Thank you for showing the courage to continue to provide this type of local government oversight.
