Indians break it open late

SPOKANE — Curtis Terry hit a two-run single to center to spark a five-run eighth inning for the Spokane Indians in a 6-1 win over the Boise Hawks in Northwest League play in front of 6,809 at Avista Stadium on Saturday.

Disobel Arias reached on a walk with two out in the first inning, advanced to second on a walk and later scored on a wild pitch to open the scoring for Spokane (1-1), which was hitless until a single by Cristian Inoa in the fifth.

Five Spokane pitchers combined to strike out 12 on the night, holding Boise (1-1) to 1 for 12 hitting with runners in scoring position.

Game 3 of the five-game series is today at 3:30 p.m.
