HOMELESS: Opportunity lost

| June 17, 2018 1:00 AM

We want to express how sad and disappointed we are to see the tiny village was turned down.

If the people of Rathdrum would have allowed Gar Mickelson to continue his PowerPoint presentation on May 9 without interrupting, they would have understood his plan for helping the homeless have homes of their own.

He has been working with homeless people for several years on Second Street in Coeur d’Alene, and he knows the needs of various homeless. He was planning these little houses for parents with two children, and homeless veterans, to find jobs and have homes of their own.

All residents have background checks and are required to be residents of Kootenai County. We feel there is a growing need for this in our area and our community should be there to support it.
