CONSTRUCTION: Traffic terrors

| June 17, 2018 1:00 AM

Ahhh. Once again road construction has slammed Kootenai County. As we know it has turned U.S. 95 into a rolling parking lot and developed Government Way into a similar mess with construction both north and south and east and west. If that isn’t enough, Fourth Street in Hayden was closed Thursday (June 14).

I have been convinced for some time that those in charge were, at one time, former U.S. Army field grade officers. Rather than complain, I offer a sure-fire solution to the problem: The top three decision makers involved in the planning of the project should be required to drive stick shift vehicles continuously through the affected construction zones until the project is completed.

As most of us realize, this never-ending traffic jam is causing all manner of aggressive driving such as tailgating and numerous right-of-way violations. To those of you in charge, how about taking a year off, shift to another county, and let traffic settle down? Most people I know are simply fed up with this lack of planning.
