Robert Daniel Hines

July 12, 1956 – May 23, 2018

Bob was born July 12, 1956, to Robert James and Betty Ruth Hotel Hines. He passed quietly on May 23, 2018, at Providence Medical Center in Everett, Wash., from a heart attack and complications, while surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Daniel Hotel and Dorothy Brown Van Dyke Hotel of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Wm. F. and Bernadine Pollock Hines of Cass Lake, Minn.

He always had a job and worked hard. He worked at the Happy Hour, Denny’s and Canned Foods. He attended Coeur d’Alene High School, class of 1974. Bob dropped out of high school in the beginning of his junior year 1973 to join the U.S. Army and served three years. After basic training he returned to marry and had a daughter, Michelle, of Idaho. While in the service he graduated from high school at St. Mary’s Catholic School, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Discharged in 1976, he attended Renton Technical School and was hired by Boeing in 1977. He also worked at Kmart in Marysville for a short time while finishing college.

In May of 1985 he received an AA degree from Everett Community College. He attended Boeing Management School and was a supervisor for 11 years while employed. He retired from Boeing, December 2011, after 34 years. He then went to work for Lufthansa Technik of North America, inspecting airplanes for delivery.

His other family are all the people he worked with, some who knew Bob for over 30 years, whether working for Boeing or Lufthansa. He had a very full life. He enjoyed music, cars, fishing, boating, camping, guns, family, kids and grandkids. He has owned many cars over the years and was always working on a car project or fixing.

He met his wife, Shelley Miles Hines, in Coeur d’Alene in 1977 while Boeing was on strike. They married July 29, 1978. He passed just short of their 40th anniversary.

Bob and Shelley had seven children together. He is survived by daughter, Jennifer (Vincent) Agostino; sons, Jonathan Hines and Steven Hines; daughters, Amanda Hines and Katherine Hines; sons, Jeffery Hines and Gregory Hines, all in western Washington. Grandchildren include Shawn and Cameron Agostino, Justice Patterson, Jackson Hines Clark, Cerenity Flowers, Raedyn Hines, Kiana Taylor and Levi Sullivan. He is survived by sister, Roberta (David) Marsolek of Cass Lake, Minn.; brother, Charles (Judy) Hines of Spokane Valley, Wash.; brother, Dan Hines of Garwood, Idaho; sister, Heather Hines and brother David Hines, both of Coeur d’Alene; step-mother, Lynnette Sharp Sisk; mother-in-law, Sally Miles of Rathdrum, Idaho; brothers-in-law, Jerold Miles of Calif., Bradley (Laurie) Miles of Otis Orchards, Wash. and Wm. (Trisha) Miles of Hayden, Idaho; along with many nieces and nephews that will miss him. He will be missed by his wife, children, family and friends for his love, humor and quick wit.

Military honors will be at 11:30 a.m. on June 23, 2018, at Forest Cemetery, Government Way, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 406 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene.
