James Richard ‘Dick’ Rogers, 85

James Richard “Dick” Rogers, age 85, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, died on June 13, 2018. Dick was born on Nov. 13, 1932, in Moscow, Idaho; the son of Wallace and Emelda Rogers. A longtime resident of Moscow, he graduated from Moscow High School.

Dick graduated from the University of Idaho with undergraduate and advanced degrees in education. At the University of Idaho he met his wife, Dolores, and they were married on June 12, 1954. They lived in Moscow for over 40 years, where he was owner of Roger’s Ice Cream. He later was a teacher and business manager for the Moscow School District and the North Idaho district manager for the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho. Dick served in the Idaho National Guard for over 20 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a life-long Boy Scout, achieving the honor of Eagle Scout, and attended the Sixth World Scout Jamboree in 1947, at Maison, France.

Dick enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild, and cheering for his favorite University of Idaho sports teams.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Rogers of Coeur d’Alene; his three children, Carly and her husband, Ray of Weston, Wis., and their children, Tim and Matt; Kim of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and her daughter, Elizabeth and her husband, Garren; and Rich and wife, Debi of Malvern, Pa. and their children, Brad, Brooke, Annie and John and great-grandson, Lucas; and his sisters, Patsy Mosman, Sandra Ingebritsen and their families.
