Emojis. Smiley faces. Abbreviated sentences for the sake of expediency have become an all too accepted norm in our society.

This is stunting our ability to moved forward.

The inability to interact face to face is due to the growing efficiency of the advancement of technology which has resulted in a generation disabled from the basic communication skills needed in today’s workplace.

The importance of a good basic communication skill can’t be disavowed.

We are bringing on a generation devoid of the ability to properly articulate their thoughts with some semblance of words that construct an actual sentence that remotely sounds like the English language.

Your future employer will not be impressed by your lightning speed texting, but by your ability to relate to your coworkers and customers through good communication and a decent level of emotional intelligence.

We must emphasize the importance of writing and reading more than ever now in an age of autocorrect and abbreviations.

A generation that loses the passion for this will surely display signs of intellectual dilapidation. We must get back to reading and writing by hand and spark the flame of passion and inspiration if we wish our future to remain literate and competent in the future.
