Car d'Lane's fabulous opening act: The Red Hot Mamas

| June 14, 2018 3:04 PM

To jump start the Car d’Lane Classic Car Cruise, the Red Hot Mamas will continue the tradition of kicking off the weekend of cruisin’ and smoozin’ with a Classic Vintage Parade.

The Mamas will bring the party to Sherman Avenue in downtown Coeur d’Alene at 5 p.m. Friday, June 15, as a pre-show to the Car d’Lane Classic Car Cruise.

The Red Hot Mamas will begin by marching from Seventh Street to Second Street with a colorful slice of nostalgia from the 1962 movie “The Music Man.”

Their classic parade marching routine features Mamas swinging silver metallic mops to “76 Trombones,” combined with a memory evoking Mickey Mouse Club March. Fun for all the family.

At Second Street, they will change up the flavor and sing Three Dog Night’s “Joy to the World,” fondly remembered as “Jeremiah was a bullfrog.” A hilarious silver walker rock ‘n’ roll performance will follow, with a medley of favorite songs, as the Mamas make their way back to Seventh Street before the classic cars thunder through town at 6 p.m.

“Be there or be real square,” says Deborah Miranda, performance director. “The energy these seasoned comedians bring just grabs hold of people and makes them smile ‘til their cheeks hurt. We hope families will come on down early to play.”
