COEUR d’ALENE — Brady Thompson struck out eight over five innings in the opener and Alex Karns had two hits and two runs batted in the nightcap as the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen swept the Lewis-Clark Twins 11-2 and 7-4 in “AA” North Idaho League play at Thorco Field on Tuesday night.

Carter Friesz and Jake Brown had two RBIs each for Coeur d’Alene, which jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings in the first game of its season opener. Michael Dooley and Friesz scored two runs each in the nightcap for Coeur d’Alene (2-0, 2-0 NIL), which faces Prairie on Thursday in a 5 p.m. single league game at Post Falls High.

“Brady was solid tonight,” second-year Coeur d’Alene coach Kevin Dunton said. “For not having pitched in a while, he made the good pitches when he needed to. Levi (Haen) came in and shut the door in both games. We were able to get timely hits in both games and Carter (Friesz) played very well behind the plate in both games. For having just a few practices and a senior-heavy team, they played well. These guys know how to play, have fun and it was great to see tonight.”

Lewis-Clark is 1-5, 0-2.
