Once Upon A Shoe, a boutique shoe store primarily for women, opened this weekend in Hayden Creek Plaza, 8206 N. Government Way.

“The store carries shoes that are stylish, comfortable and well made, three things women commonly struggle to find in a shoe these days,” said owner Daria Brown. “What a difference it makes when your shoes fit correctly and you start your day in style.”

Brands the store is opening with include Vionic, Dansko, Baske, Toas, SAS and Blundstone. Customers can see, touch and feel the products with skilled associates.

“Men’s (shoes) are included too,” said Lee Brown, Daria’s husband. “We can 3D scan and fit orthotics in-store and can special order. We also have fun, functional socks and beautiful handbags.”

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, 10 to 5 on Saturday and 11 to 4 on Sunday. Phone 208-772-SHOE.

Brooks Seaplane has new owner

Flights from and over Lake Coeur d’Alene are with Brooks Seaplane Service with pilot-owner Neil Lunt.

The service was opened in 1946 by Bill Brooks to train pilots going to Korea and Vietnam. His son, Grant, took over and recently retired. New owner Lunt was an airline captain with Skywest Airlines with more than 20,000 hours of flight experience. His son, Noah, helps in the office at the end of Liberty Point Dock off Independence Point.

Options include a 20-minute, 40-mile flight over Lake Coeur d’Alene and an 80-mile, 40-minute flight over Lakes Coeur d’Alene, Hayden and Pend Oreille.
