McDonald helps Northern Lakes to sweep

LEWISTON — Jack McDonald struck out five in a two-hitter, and also went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored as the Northern Lakes Mountaineers beat the Lewis-Clark Twins 12-0 in five innings in the second game to sweep their class A North Idaho League doubleheader Sunday night at Harris Field.
Northern Lakes (6-1 NIL) won the first game 7-4.
Jaret Taylor and Colton Aragon each drove in two runs in the second game for Northern Lakes.
Braden Gifford was 2 for 2 with two RBIs for the Mountaineers in the opener. His RBI single in the top of the fifth inning broke a 1-all tie and put Northern Lakes ahead to stay.
Brandon Gay had two hits and an RBI, and struck out eight.
