William ‘Bill’ Hamner Byers Jr., age 78

William “Bill” Hamner Byers Jr., age 78, passed away unexpectedly on June 4, 2018, at his home in Dewey, Ariz.

Bill was born on Aug. 14, 1939, in Marietta, Ohio, to Sophie Zavistowski and William Hamner Byers Sr. He married his beloved, Andrea Mack, in 1976. They shared the happiest years of their lives together traveling, snowmobiling, jeeping, hanging out with family and friends and building and running A&B Tool Rental in Wasilla and Palmer, Ala.

Bill worked for Craig Taylor for 15 years, the State Highway Department for five years, and A&B Tool Rental for 20 years. Bill was well known for his humor, friendships, passions as a businessman, traveling and being a family man and counselor. In his spare time, he loved to do woodworking. He was an incredible person, father, husband, brother, son, uncle, grandpa and friend. He will be sorely missed by everyone.

He is preceded in death by both his parents. He is survived by his sister, Connie Merrill; children, William H. Byers III (Connie), Robert L. Byers and Christina G. Byers; fury child, P.J.; grandchildren, Justin L. Byers, Janelle M. Byers, Rachel A. Byers and Atarah M. Byers; and great-grandchildren, Makayla A. Byers and Boston A. Byers. Family, friends, and others whose lives Bill touched.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bill’s name to The American Diabetes Association.
