Catherine Claire Tubbs

Oct. 30, 1966 – May 29, 2018

Catherine Claire Tubbs passed on at her home in Athol peacefully, with her husband and fur babies, after a long and valiant fight with cancer. God raised her to heaven after she had been anointed and received her Communion. Her family includes husband Ed; sisters Laurie Hingley and Terry Egan; nieces Alyssa and Charlotte Hingley and nephew Joe Egan. She loved and adored them all. Her greatest gift was the life and love shared with her husband, Ed, whom she introduced to everyone as her “victim” before getting married, and after!

Catherine was born in Ventura, Calif., by the most amazing and loving mother, Elizabeth Claire Liebenguth; raised in the Los Angeles area where she enjoyed a life of sun, beaches, the Strand and Disneyland (of course)! She graduated from Loyola Marymount University and was a proud member of the Delta Gamma, as well as being a member of the Daughters of the Nile. She excelled in her career of sales and marketing before working for the National Rifle Association as an advancement officer for the Northwest Region. In her work she made each person feel valued and respected no matter what she was doing, striking an impression that could not be forgotten and creating new and special friends as she moved along.

She loved to make everyone that she knew feel very special on their birthdays and excelled at planning a wonderful surprise as a gift, and there was never a simple birthday card. It was a card full of confetti, love and words that made your day memorable.

Catherine enjoyed many places and things that included Nordstrom and Neiman-Marcus, as well as Cabela’s, Becker’s Cookies from Manhattan Beach for any holiday, and just about any jewelry store! Life was enjoyed traveling on an airplane or on the back of a Harley, spending time with family and friends and eating good food, and sugar was a food group! All the while leaving behind moments for her family and friends to enjoy and recall.

The wedding band she placed on Ed’s finger when they wed said, “I want 50 years.” He stated that no matter what they would squeeze 50 years into whatever time they had. Prophetic words considering he expected to leave this world first. And they lived each day as the anniversary of life itself. Catherine said that she was given the greatest gift of life shared with the most amazing family, friends and husband. Yet they all say that it was she who was the most amazing one. Angels grace us but for a while, and we are thankful to have her walk amongst us and wish for more time than we had.

Catherine is a gift from God and is a bright and warm, loving star that graced so many people with her radiant smile and affection. That warmth and affection will guide and keep those of us here on earth from afar in the heavens. While one cannot always see the stars, they know that they are there. All you have to do is remember good times shared together and you will feel that love surround you as a hug from her. Then, look above in the evenings and find her star to guide your way. You will see that twinkle of her eyes, her incredible wink and smile shine as bright as the star!

Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Catherine’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
