QUESTIONS: How about answers?

| June 8, 2018 1:00 AM

I am writing regarding my letter to the editor dated May 9 about my concerns regarding the Democrats running for office in Idaho. I am disappointed that there have been no responses printed. Fortunately, we have a long political season between now and November and there should be many opportunities to ask questions at town hall meetings. I would suggest that these questions be asked of both the Democrats and Republicans.

In addition to my last questions, I have one about the push for gun control. As we have seen, the mass shootings have been by individuals who are isolated and have mental health problems. Please explain how taking your neighbor’s firearms will help a person in crisis.

Chicago, a Democrat-controlled city, has strict gun control laws and it appears that the only people now with guns are the ones murdering people in record numbers. Why hasn’t Chicago taken guns from the murderers?

Why has our school district encouraged children to protest in the street about taking guns from their neighbors, instead of having sessions at school where there are individuals expressing both sides of the issue so they can make informed decisions?

I look forward to honest and civil discussions about the issues facing all of us and how we can help others.
