CHARTER: An Idaho gem

| June 8, 2018 1:00 AM

Thanks to the Coeur d’Alene Press and Judd Wilson, there has been a very nefarious scheme to see to it the Charter Academy isn’t recognized as one of the best highs in the U.S. The problem turns out to be our own Idaho Department of Education. Apparently, the entire staff of that department has no idea how to read a calendar to be able to get the information to U.S. News & World Reports timely.

Using the excuse they didn’t want to invade the students’ right to privacy just isn’t credible. Since they don’t use the actual student information, how does one invade their privacy? If this must go through the Superintendent of Public Instruction and has to be blessed there, what is he/she trying to hide? It really looks as though the department and the superintendent just don’t want to show how poorly the public school system fares against Charter Academy.

This brings up how the Charter Academy is shut out in the dark and that public school students are being shortchanged in not having their needs met by the present education system in Idaho. We taxpayers are also being shortchanged by paying taxes for a system that simply does not perform nearly as well as the Charter schools.

If these conclusions are correct we need a change in the Department of Education. To have people who cannot read a calendar to get the information where it belongs in a timely manner and are shortchanging the public school students is unconsiderable. There is a lot of room for improvement in that department if this is the best they could come up with to deprive the deserving students of the Charter Academy of their just due; that is pretty pathetic.
