COEUR d’ALENE — The Coeur d’Alene School District has recommended Coeur d’Alene High School alumnus Bret Heller to serve as CHS’s next principal. Heller has accepted the offer, which now awaits the school board’s final approval at its June 18 meeting.

After serving as assistant principal at Meridian High School and principal of Lake Hazel Middle School, Heller was asked by West Ada School District leadership to become Victory Middle School’s first principal in the fall of 2016.

“My family and I are thrilled to be coming home to Coeur d’Alene,” he said Tuesday in a district press release. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to lead Coeur d’Alene High School and look forward to a fantastic partnership with the students, staff and community as we work together to ensure all students learn at high levels. Once a Viking, always a Viking!”

Along with district staff, administrators, and board member Lisa May, both incoming superintendent Steve Cook and outgoing interim superintendent Stan Olson participated in the search committee that recommended Heller.
