Martin Daniel Malakowsky, 84

Martin Daniel Malakowsky, 84, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away May 3, 2018, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with his family by his side.

Martin was born in Lockhart. Minn. to George and Anna Elizabeth (Treichel) Malakowsky on July 27, 1933.

Martin married Carrie Ann Moody on April 11, 1953, in Kelso, Wash. They then moved their family to Oldtown, Idaho, in 1957; making Oldtown their home for 48 years. In 2005, Martin and his wife, Carrie, moved to Post Falls.

Martin was a logger by trade and a master mechanic. He was known for fixing the unfixable, whatever it was. He retired from J.D. Lumber, in Priest River, Idaho, in the late nineties. Martin enjoyed and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed working on and fixing cars, going to auctions and the occasional trip to the casino with his niece, Donna and her husband, Hap. Martin had a wonderful sense of humor; he loved people and they loved him. He will be dearly missed.

Marin is preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Ann, of 58 years in 2011; his parents, George and Anna Malakowsky of Oldtown, Idaho; six brothers and seven sisters. He is survived by one sister, Shirley of Minnesota; his two sons, Daniel (Margit) Malakowsky of Oldtown and Clifford (Kathi) Malakowsky of Blanchard, Idaho, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

At Martin’s request, no memorial service will be held. A family gathering will be held on top of Hoodoo Mountain at a later date.
