Norma S. Grismer, 86

Norma S. Grismer’s life journey ended on May 30, 2018, at home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho after 86 years. She was surrounded by her son, George and granddaughter, Lisa on that date.

Norma was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Wallace, Idaho. She was the oldest of two children raised in Kellogg. Norma graduated from Kellogg High School as salutatorian in 1949. She then attended the University of Idaho, graduating with a BS degree in education in 1953. She taught the first grade at Silver King Elementary for three years. On July 14, 1956, she was married to William Grismer, of Wallace, and they shared their lives until his death in 2009.

Norma spent most of her life in Northern Idaho, enjoying her time with friends and family. She was survived by her daughter, Linda (Dave Watzig) of Happy Valley, Ore.; sons, George of Coeur d’Alene and John (Helen) of Billings, Mont. Norma had eight grandchildren, William, Lyndsey, Lisa, Joe, Chris, Ben, George and Thomas. She is preceded in death by her husband, William and her brother, Joseph Stralovich of Walnut Creek, Calif.

A vigil service will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83814. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018, at St Pius X Catholic Church, 625 E. Haycraft Ave. Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83815. A celebration of life will be held following the ceremony at the Best Western Plus, 506 W. Appleway Ave. Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83814.
