Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Harriet Molyneaux (Parker), 88

On May 27, 2018, at the age of 88, Elizabeth “Betty” Harriet Molyneaux (Parker) went home to the Lord, surrounded by her family. Betty was born to Albert and Esther Parker on Nov. 29, 1929, in Spokane, Wash. She was one of six children; Albert Parker, Lilian Munson, Dorothy Cole, Dora Zogran and Jack Parker. Betty graduated from Rogers High School in 1948. She was married to John Molyneaux of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, for 49 years; he went to the Lord on May 15, 2008. Betty worked for many years at KMart prior to retiring.

Betty is survived by her three children; Dennis Molyneaux of Coeur d’Alene, Kathryn Bain of Jacksonville, Fla., and Laura Molyneaux of Spokane Valley, Wash. She had four grandchildren, Amanda McKinney, Jessica Bain, Anthony Talley and Johnny Molyneaux; and three great-grandchildren, Michael, Braxton and Hope; along with several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Betty worked for The Crescent in the soda fountain, which probably fueled her love for ice cream. We never found an ice cream flavor she didn’t like, though strawberry was her favorite. A strawberry milkshake from Paul Bunyan was always met with a smile. She was a huge fan of community theater and enjoyed taking her children to several plays as they grew up. In the time she took for herself she could be found sitting in a chair for hours with a good book. Because of her deep love of reading, she knew almost every answer to Jeopardy. Every year when it was time for basketball, the Gonzaga attire would be donned, she would sit in her big green chair covered up with her GU blanket, then she would root for her team, Gonzaga.

Betty was always happy to share a smile and a kind word to everyone she met. I’m sure she was welcomed to heaven with open arms and warm hearts.

We’d like to thank Rescare, especially Anita, Jacki and Shanda, for brightening her days and Kootenai Health Medical Center for the outstanding care she received in her final days. May God bless you.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with an ice cream social to follow at English Chapel Funeral Home.
