Duane Schultz, 77

On May 26, 2018, Duane passed away at Hospice House after a seven-month battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 6, 1940, in Tama, Iowa, to Henry “Hank” and Iona (Allen) Schultz. Duane moved to Careywood, Idaho, at the age of four with his family and then settled in Rathdrum, Idaho. He attended grade school and graduated from Rathdrum High School in 1959. He played and enjoyed all sports, of which he excelled.

In 1960 he met Judy Hegge while attending a dance at the Spirit Lake Park. They would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on June 30.

Duane loved the woods and being outdoors, and was lucky enough to have a long career in the logging industry.

Duane is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Brenda (Lee), Patty (Dan) and Coleen (Kurt); and some of the greatest joys of his life, his grandchildren, Duane (Marisol), KC (Jesse), Jayde, Hailey and Carley; and great-grandchildren, Juliana, Jaymison and Lennon. He is also survived by his siblings, Ellen, Dolores, Rita, little twin, Diane and brother, Dick. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Bob.

A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave., with a reception following at the Yates Hayden Gathering Center. The family prefers memorial contributions to Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.
