John Gilbert Alexander, 75

As John stated in his March update, “Thank God I know where I’m going when the Lord takes me to my Eternal Home!!! I pray the same for each of you as I strongly believe we were not given life for but a few short years but for eternity and it is our choice where we will spend it: see 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 for what God wants from you … belief ONLY.”

John Gilbert Alexander, 75, of Post Falls, Idaho, left his earthly home on May 21, 2018, after more than three years battling leukemia (ALL). He was born June 11, 1943, in Moscow, Idaho, at Gritman Memorial, the only child of Myrtle and John Finlay Alexander. At five years old he moved to Long Beach, Calif., with his mom, dad and grandma, Annie Rindy.

John’s education was accomplished in Long Beach, receiving a math degree in 1965 at Long Beach State. Pursuing a career in the software computer arena was, and continued to be, his passion, working at Hughes Aircraft. In 1970, he moved to San Jose, Calif., continuing his passion in computer software with Ampex and Measurex Corporation (now called Honeywell) until 1990.

He met his wife, Vicki, in Boston in March of 1984. They were married in San Jose in August of that same year. They both worked in Cupertino, Calif., and then moved to Post Falls, Idaho, in 1990. Living on the Spokane River, they started their home-based computer company, Alexander Enterprises, serving businesses in Idaho, Washington and California.

John was active in Christ the King Lutheran Church, CDA Homes and was a member of the Elks. He loved boating, fishing, golf and traveling, but most of all his family. His mind was like a computer — 010101. The knowledge never stopped pouring out of him in any area of his life to be shared with anyone who would listen.

He loved socializing and meeting new people. He touched many lives with his compassion and called many his brothers and sisters. He will be missed on this earth, but we have peace in knowing he is present with the Lord in his Heavenly Home.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki; daughter, Becky (Chuck) Weiss; brothers-in-law, Gary (Jan) and Mike (Susie) Smith; one niece, Kindra (Bill) Wilson and their children, Jake and Garrett; and one nephew, Craig (Jenny) Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d’Alene.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be donated to Camp Lutherhaven, 3258 W. Lutherhaven Road, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.
