ANNIVERSARIES
Don and Jeanne Morris
70th Anniversary
Don and Jeanne Morris were married Aug. 8, 1948, in Pendleton, Ore., where they met.
Don is from Illinois and Jeanne is from North Dakota. They are members and have been active in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Don became a registered X-Ray technician in 1950 and in 1952 Uncle Sam called him. He spent two years in the Army in Germany.
Jeanne spent two years at Harris Pine Mills in Pendleton as head payroll clerk.
When Don returned from Germany, they moved to Pasco, Wash. He worked at Lady of Lourdes Hospital and Jeanne worked for Dr. Patchett Eye Clinic.
Their two children were born there, Linda in Richland, Wash., and Brian in Pasco.
In 1965, they moved to Ritzville, Wash., and worked for Dr. Smick. In 1966, they moved to Coeur d’Alene and purchased Pinewood Manor. In 1968, they bought and built LaCrosse Convalescent Center.
In 1972, they built and ran the first large retirement place in Coeur d’Alene, now called Bestland.
They retired in the ’90s and did some extensive traveling local and abroad.
Don loved his banjo and guitar, and Jeanne loved to crochet, cook and crafts.
They lost their beautiful daughter, Linda, in 2006. Their son, Brian and his wife, Davina and two children, Sutter and Aspen, live in Coeur d’Alene. They have nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Stan and Sherry Bye
60th Anniversary
Stan and Sherry Bye, of Windy Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a road trip to Windsor, Calif., with their daughters, Debra Bye Johnson of Castle Rock, Wash., and Lori Bye and Lori Pieper of Surprise, Ariz. Highlights included the Redwoods, Charles M. Shultz Museum, Korbel and Kendal-Jackson Wineries, a day in San Francisco and Bodega Bay.
The Byes, originally from Milton-Freewater, Ore., attended Washington State University and lived in Pullman for 35 years before building their home on Lake Coeur d’Alene. Stan retired as pharmacy manager with Rosauers in Spokane and Sherry retired as a health research administrator with Washington State University — Spokane. They enjoy their summers on the lake and spend the winter at their Mesa, Ariz., home, a few weeks in Maui and Puerto Penasco, Mexico.
They have one grandson, Brandon Johnson and his wife, Jeana, who live in Castle Rock.
The Byes were married on July 7, 1958, and are a proud WSU Cougar family.
Ron and Karen Brantley
50th Anniversary
Ron and Karen Brantley celebrate 50 years of marriage on July 31, 2018. Their relationship is testimony to the bond of marriage.
Ron, a business owner, finally retired this year, is respected by all who know him. Karen an excellent homemaker, has a passion for horses and spent her time training and showing them, with many awards to show for it.
They both are strong-willed and driven, but agree respect, kindness and selflessness have been key in their marriage. He calls her sweetheart, she lovingly calls him daddy and you’d better not have much to say about it. Though many challenges through the years, they have not known an adversary they didn’t face together, medical issues such as M.S. and cancer have changed how they live. For most people, this would be tiresome. Amazingly, their commitment grows stronger, their relationship closer, their bond tighter and their love deeper year after year.
Their marriage is a symbol of what love can endure and the priceless rewards achieved with working through the hard times.
Theirs is a real love story.
Happy anniversary Mom and Dad. We all love you.
ENGAGEMENT
Bashaw-Zylawy
Wyatt Zylawy and Anneliese Bashaw announce their plans to marry on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at the Zylawy home near Alberton, Mont.
Anneliese is the daughter of Tim and Mia Bashaw of Coeur d’Alene. Wyatt is the son of Roman and Terry Zylawy of Alberton.
Wyatt serves in the Coast Guard on the USCG Bailey Barco as an electricians mate stationed in Ketchikan, Alaska. Anneliese is an RN and works at the hospital in Ketchikan.
The couple will continue to live in Ketchikan after this summer’s wedding.
