Hillsboro rallies past Indians in 11 innings

SPOKANE — Ryan Dease allowed one run over six innings with six strikeouts for Spokane, but the Indians gave up five unanswered runs in the final three innings in an 6-4 loss in 11 innings to the Hillsboro Hops in Northwest League baseball in front of 6,842 at Avista Stadium on Friday.

Spokane (19-23, 3-1 second half) took a 3-1 lead after six innings on a double by Tanner Gardner to score Diosbel Arias. Gardner scored on a groundout by Francisco Ventura in the sixth.

Down to its final out, Hillsboro (27-15, 3-1) tied the game on a throwing error in the ninth and notched the go-ahead run on a double by Keshawn Lynch in the 11th.

The second game of the five-game series is tonight at 6:30.
