Edna L. Tefft, 92

Edna L. Tefft, 92, went home to heaven on Memorial Day, May 27, 2018. She died at Bristol Heights Assisted Living Community as a result of complications brought on by congestive heart failure.

Edna was born in 1926 to Robert and Ida, as one of eight children in a small North Dakota farming community. She worked on the farm, and when older, was employed as a nurse’s assistant and at local restaurants. She eventually moved to California where she met and married Jerry Tefft in 1956. They had two children and she stayed home to care for her family. They moved to Jerry’s home state of Idaho in 1988.

She participated in Bible study fellowship and was very involved in the various Lutheran churches in the communities where she lived.

She enjoyed walking, running and bicycling, and even participated in races where she placed in her age group. She loved to travel and visited Europe, South America, Antarctica, the Panama Canal and all over the U.S.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughter, Aida; son-in-law, Robert; son, Gordon; daughter-in-law, Maria; grandson, Benjamin; two brothers, Roger and Lemore; and various nieces, nephews and cousins.

A special thanks to the staff at Bristol Heights for the care that they gave Edna the last four months of her life, despite the challenges she presented. Also, thanks to Hospice House of North Idaho for the care they gave Edna the last few days of her life.

Memorial gifts in Edna’s memory may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, 83814, and designated to the Women’s Ministry where Edna contributed many hours to helping with others’ funerals, or to the Love Pantry.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, with a reception to follow.
