Jim Acuff, 76

James “Jim” Marshall Acuff, age 76, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away July 13, 2018, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene. He was born Feb. 11, 1942, in Coeur d’Alene, to Joseph R. and Lucille M. (Faucett) Acuff. Jim graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1960 and then attended North Idaho Junior College for two years before transferring to the University of Idaho to complete his degree in education. He began his teaching career in Reardan, Wash., in the fall of 1964. He met Bonnie Leipham in Reardan, and they were married July 26, 1968. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage later this month.

Jim taught at Reardan High School for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He loved to fish, hunt and watch sports. He was a fan of the Seattle Mariners, Gonzaga basketball, Seattle Seahawks and the Idaho Vandals. He also raised Columbia sheep for many years and was heavily involved in the Spokane Area Sheep Producers and Washington State Wool Growers, serving as the chairman for the Washington State Ram Sale for several years.

Jim is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Coeur d’Alene; a son, Curt of Reardan; daughters, Alicia (Rob) Keegan of Viola, Idaho, Cindy (Doug) Nelson of Kamiah, Idaho, and JoAnne Acuff of Spokane, Wash.; his brother, Pat (Heidi) Acuff and nephew, Colby of Coeur d’Alene; six grandchildren, Hunter, Harmony, Janelle, Garrett, Brendan and Marshal; and a great-grandson, Aiden. He also leaves behind his lifelong friends, Tommy and Dave. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Kari Lynn.

A private family graveside service will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on July 28, 2018, at the home of Pat and Heidi Acuff, 112 Hazelwood Drive in Coeur d’Alene.
