TRUMP: Veterans salute you

| July 8, 2018 1:00 AM

Dear Mr. President,

Sir, I am a 20-year, retired U.S. Army veteran who served four tours in Vietnam, and was wounded three times in that war. For the past two years I was the Post Commander of VFW Post 889 here in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. I have attended numerous veteran events and have had the opportunity to speak with hundreds of veterans, and in particular, those who served in Vietnam.

I am writing to you to clear the air and to let you know what the overwhelming majority of veterans feel about your presidency since the democrats continually attempt to discredit you about not serving in the military during that war; which is comical as they berated and even tormented anyone who did serve during that time.

Almost every veteran I have spoken with voted for you, and plan to do it again in 2020. To us, it’s not an important issue whether you did not serve in the military. What is important is the outstanding job you are doing now, not just for us, but for every American.

Since your election, we veterans feel that you are doing great things for our veterans and country. We can now toast you, our Commander in Chief, with pride at veteran and military events, as opposed to just toasting the “office of the President.”

I just wanted to let you know how proud we veterans are to have you leading our nation as our president in this tumultuous and dangerous time in our history.

We are all with you, sir. Thank you for your time and Godspeed.

ROBERT O. MARTIN
