Grove makes his move in third round of Lilac

Vinnie Murphy of Linden Country Club in Puyallup, Wash., shot a 8-under-64 on Saturday to move into a tie for the lead after 54 holes of the Lilac City Invitational at The Fairways at West Terrace, near Cheney.

Murphy and Drew Reinland of Clarkston Country Club, who shot 68, are at 10-under 206.

Shane Prante of Olympia, Wash., the leader after the first two rounds, shot 72 on Saturday and is tied for second at 9-under 207.

North Idaho College golf coach Russell Grove, the 2013 Lilac champ, made his move with a 6-under 66 on Saturday and is tied for seventh at 6-under 210.

Jason Kimmel of Coeur d’Alene Golf Club shot 73 and is at 5-over 221.

In the Championship Amateur flight, Preston Roth, formerly of Lakeland High and Community Colleges of Spokane, and now a rising senior at Whitworth, is tied for first at 9-over 225, after shooting 74. Cameron Flores, a recent Post Falls High grad, is fifth at 230 after shooting 78.

The 72-hole tourney concludes today.
