Lyle Orville Anderson, 86

Lyle Orville Anderson was born in Wardner, Idaho, on March 13, 1932. He passed away on June 8, 2018. He was 86 years old.

Born to Andrew Gustav “Gus” Anderson and his wife, Hedvig “Peggy,” he was the youngest of four children. Following his father’s death in 1941 at the Bunker Hill Mine, his mother packed up the kids and moved to Dalton Gardens, Idaho, where he went to elementary school. He rode his bike all over Coeur d’Alene as a Western Union delivery boy. After graduating from Coeur d’Alene High School he drove a logging truck, as he was banned from the mines by his mother due to his father’s death.

He met and married Elizabeth “Betty” Coon in 1955. With children on the way he felt it was time to settle down and get a less dangerous job at Kaiser Aluminum, from where he later retired.

Camping was one of his favorite past times with his family and friends. Weekend trips up the Coeur d’Alene River were the most frequent. He and Betty enjoyed the Eagles Camper Club once the children were grown. He was a long time Eagles member and a past president of the Coeur d’Alene Aerie, where the couple made long-lasting friendships.

After his wife of 40 years passed away, he met and married Thelma Box to spend his twilight years with. He was able to enjoy the company of her daughter and family.

He is survived by his three children, Steve Anderson, Debbie Maddox and John Anderson; grandchildren, Timberly Maddox, Josh Maddox and Courtney Maddox; and stepdaughter, Connie Madison and family.

Lyle’s final resting place is Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at the Hayden Eagles, 1520 W. Wyoming Ave., Hayden, Idaho 83835. (208) 772-4901.
