Post Falls woman dies in snorkeling incident

A 54-year-old Post Falls woman died Saturday afternoon in a snorkeling incident off Key Largo, Fla.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Melinda Loudeneack was snorkeling off the charter boat "Journey" around 4 p.m. near the Grecian Rocks where the incident occurred.

Foul play is not suspected. What caused her to lose consciousness is under investigation. An autopsy is pending.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responded and CPR was performed continually until reaching the Port Largo Homeowners Park in Key Largo where paramedics were waiting.

Loudeneack was taken to Mariners Hospital in Tavernier, where she was pronounced dead.
