New LDS bishopric called

James T. Bastedo Jr., of Post Falls, was recently called to be Bishop of the Post Falls 1st Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife, Sara, have lived in the area for the past 12 years and are the parents of five children.

Tim Bastedo is originally from Glendora, Calif., where he was raised. He graduated from Glendora High School and later from the California School of Culinary Arts. He is the freshman baseball coach at Post Falls High School and is serving as the vice president of Post Falls Little League. Bishop Bastedo is the owner and plumber of Northland Plumbing.

First Counselor to Bishop Bastedo is Tyler J. Sorensen, who with his wife, Annie, has also lived in the area for 12 years and they have five children. Tyler is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, where he was raised. He graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City and then served a two-year mission to the Peru Arequipa Mission. Tyler earned his bachelor’s degree in health administration from Weber State College. He then went on to Colorado Technical University, where he received his master’s in management and MBA. He works as the Health Administrator for Deaconess Hospital in Spokane.

Bryan Schertz serves as 2nd Counselor. He and his wife, Tammy, have lived in the area for the past 30 years. They are parents to four children. Bryan was originally from California, but raised in Coeur d’Alene. He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School and then served a two-year mission to the Australia Melbourne Mission. He later graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in communications. Bryan retired from the Air Force, Security Police and now works as a Code Enforcement Officer for the city of Spokane.

Spencer Sessions serves as the Ward Executive Secretary and Roy Stokes as the Ward Clerk. Post Falls 1st Ward meets at 9 a.m. each Sunday at the McGuire Road Meetinghouse.

Missionary

Marisa Dianne Steinberg, 19, of Coeur d’Alene, received her call to serve an 18-month mission to the Virginia Chesapeake Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She will enter the Provo, Utah, Missionary Training Center on Feb. 7. She is the daughter of Kirk and Kara Steinberg, also of Coeur d’Alene.

Marisa graduated from the Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy in 2017. She graduated with an associate’s degree from North Idaho College at the same time that she graduated high school. She is a very talented pianist and organist and has been attending Brigham Young University in Provo prior to her mission call.
