LA GRANDE, Ore. — After concluding the home schedule on Thursday night, the North Idaho College wrestling team wrapped up the regular season with a 28-12 win over Eastern Oregon on Friday night at Quinn Coliseum.

“It was a good match for us to get on the road, make weight and get out and compete,” said NIC coach Pat Whitcomb, whose team beat Simon Fraser on Thursday in Coeur d’Alene before traveling to La Grande on Friday morning. “We’re shifting now to where the guys are a little more focused. Each one of them is taking their time and wrestling real consistently.”

Damian Trujillo (285 pounds), Brent Evans (149) and Levi Perry (184) won by technical fall for NIC (9-6), which returns to action at the West District tournament — formerly the Region 18 tournament — on Feb. 11 at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Ore.

“This is where we want to be and hopefully we can carry the momentum going forward,” Whitcomb said. “The end of the season is here. We just need to stay healthy and keep pushing this momentum on.”
