TRAIL: Its bright future

| January 17, 2018 12:00 AM

Dear County Commissioners,

I am fully supportive of you entering into an agreement with ITD for the long-term care of the Highway 95 Pedestrian/Bicycle trail corridor.

What a treasure this long trail will be as it will provide many citizens with a way to traverse a large portion of the county/city to, for instance, shop with local merchants, to get from home to school, to get to work, etc.

Many people don’t have access to an automobile and need the access this trail will provide. Likewise, many people and families enjoy getting outside to walk or ride for exercise — even in winter!

This trail will also provide much-needed connectivity between trails throughout the community. The more trails we have, the better connected they all become, the more likely people will feel safe and enjoy the convenience of getting about without bus or car.

I’m a recreational bicycle rider and choose to keep the car in the garage over the summer, getting about on my bicycle to both recreate and do business. Kootenai County is a beautiful place and will be increasingly beautiful as amenities like this trail are made available for everyone to enjoy.
