Well-traveled Trojans win near Seattle

KENT, Wash. — The first six weeks of the season have taken Post Falls’ boys basketball team to Las Vegas, eastern and western Washington. And the Trojans have tasted victory in all three locales.

Post Falls rode the scoring of seniors Jacob Pfennigs and Tanner McCliment-Call and solid team defense to a 52-39 win over Enumclaw at Monday’s Martin Luther King Showcase event in Kent, Wash.

Only seven Trojans suited up for the game, but all of them helped limit the Hornet offense in a game played at the 6,500-seat ShoWare Center, home of the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds.

“This was a great environment for us. A singer came out and performed, they had a big ceremony honoring Martin Luther King Jr., and it was a great venue to play a basketball game,” Post Falls coach Mike McLean said.

Pfennigs had 26 points and McCliment-Call scored 13, but McLean said team defense was the major reason his squad improved to 10-5 on the season.

“Enumclaw was very well coached and ran very good sets,” he added. “It challenged us defensively to stay with our principles. They had a couple easy baskets, but we made a really good team work hard for the other 35 points.”

McLean also praised the all-around efforts of David Bourgard (four points, five rebounds, three assists) and Nick Morris (four points, five rebounds, five assists).

The Trojans return to 5A Inland Empire League play on Friday, making a much shorter road trip to Lake City.

Kaden Anderson led Enumclaw (12-4) with 20 points.
