Jessen-Burnett

Ryan Burnett and Kelly Jessen are pleased to announce their engagement.

Ryan is the son of Doug and Ranel Burnett of Rathdrum. He is a graduate of Washington State University and is employed at Oracle Corporation.

Kelly is the daughter of Paul and Ginny Jessen of Lincoln, Calif. She is a graduate of San Francisco State University and is employed at Frontier Elementary School.

Their wedding is planned for April 2018 in Sacramento, Calif.

Roy E. Higgs Jr.

85th Birthday

Roy E. Higgs Jr. is turning 85 years young on Jan. 16, 2018. He was born Jan. 16, 1933.

“The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.” — Psalm 90:10

EDUCATION

The Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine welcomed its first class of medical students in 2017. This historic event was years in the making and will create a new generation of doctors who are equipped to serve rural and urban underserved populations.

One of the members of the inaugural class, Ethan Payton of Post Falls, is among the first 60 medical students to be trained at WSU. He is one of a small handful of students at the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine who grew up outside the state, but had significant enough ties to Washington to be accepted into the program. He chose WSU because it offered the possibility of studying medicine near where he grew up, and enabled him to engage with and give back to his community.

Ethan is a Post Falls High School graduate.
