F&G: Attitude adjustment needed
Thanks to Bonnie Brown for drawing attention to the change of attitude toward wildlife on the part of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. It seems now, their only interest is selling hunting tags. I called them when a deer had hopelessly tangled herself in a couple portable corral panels, carrying them 20 yards from my barn before collapsing underneath them. Their answer, “Let nature take its course,” was obviously not acceptable. My husband works in Seattle and I could think of no one else to call for assistance, so alone I cut the baling twine that held the panel pieces together (also tangled around her legs); then carefully lifted panels off the deer until she was able to stand and run away. Thankfully, she lay quietly while I worked, but realize I could have been injured — no thanks to our tax-funded Fish and Game who don’t seem to care about wildlife unless someone wants to shoot them. I remember the day when they seemed to have a more helpful attitude.
