Coeur d’Alene police released the names of the officer injured and the suspect killed in Tuesday night’s shooting.

Officer Charles Hatley is doing well after surgery and is expected to make a full recovery, police said.

“We would like to thank not only those in our immediate community of Coeur d’Alene, but all of those who provided prayers and words of thanks from across the country,” said a post on the department’s Facebook page. “...The outpouring of support is just another example of the amazing relationship we have with our community and all of our officers agree it is an honor to serve in this wonderful city.”

The suspect, Curtis Bradley Ware, was shot and killed during a gunfire exchange with officers.

Ware, a prior convicted felon, was wanted on a felony warrant for drug charges.
