GUNS: Critics are misfiring

| February 28, 2018 12:00 AM

Got up Sunday morning to another beautiful Idaho morning. After feeding my outside animals and getting the paper, I got a cup of coffee and proceeded to read the Coeur d’Alene Press. Upon turning to the opinion section, I was stunned enough to get up and make sure my plates said Idaho, not that sanctuary lib state down south. Anti-gun this, anti-gun that. Also, how I should heed the advice from still wet behind the ears high school kids.

I’m sorry they went through what they did, but to blame an object and an organization, aka NRA, without putting blame on the other factions who had a chance to prevent this is wrong. There has to be a way to fix the loose ends on the medical and background system to prevent another crisis.

I am a 63-year-old U.S. Army veteran who has been around the block a couple of times. If I was good enough at 18 to pack a fully auto m16, why the hell at 63 I cannot have a semi-auto ar15. I don’t need nor want anyone to tell me what guns I can have in my collection. Believe me, I’ve earned them. Keep this in mind: Take away the gun, they will find something else, possibly something worse. I am a proud U.S. Army vet and a proud NFA life member.
