EDUCATION: Or indoctrination?

| February 28, 2018 12:00 AM

Re: Dave Johnson’s “My Turn” from Feb. 22: What Mr. Johnson may call “education” instead smacks of clever and full-on pro-statism indoctrination as he attempts to humanize that which is responsible for the most human suffering (war, murder, theft, oppression) in history, without compare — government.

Are all government employees evil? No. But it’s sometimes hard to tell when they’re taking people’s money under threat of force. Under any other circumstance we call this a mugging. When government agents do it, we call it “taxes.”

Or when agents of the government arrest people for victimless “crimes.”

Or just ask the Sacketts about how nice the EPA has been to them.

For balance of perspective, why not also bring in private sector owners and workers. You know, the true producers of value and capital who are forced to comply with and fund the government.

Referring to Madison’s quote about angels and government, it raises a question: If people are bad, therefore needing government coercion for good behavior, then why give anyone a monopoly of power (i.e. government agents) over the rest of us? Or are they magically above reproach?

Mr. Johnson’s, and academia in general’s pro-government agenda is unwitting at best, and insidious at worst. And impressionable students are the victims. The case for alternative education is strengthened yet again.

“…If the Government’s propaganda can take root as children grow up, those kids will be no threat to the state apparatus. They’ll fasten the chains to their own ankles.” — Lew Rockwell
