North Idaho Dermatology in Coeur d’Alene is expanding into a newer, bigger facility later this year.

The company, at 2288 N. Merritt Creek Loop in the Riverstone neighborhood, is constructing a $6 million office across the parking lot at 2199 N. Merritt Creek Loop.

The 27,400 square-foot building will be three stories tall and feature a 9,400-square-foot parking level.

CEO Grant Ely said North Idaho Dermatology hopes to move into the new location no later than Sept. 30.

Ely said the additional space provided by the new building will help NID better cater to its patients. The current office is roughly 10,000 square feet.

“Typically at a specialty office, patients have to wait two to three months to get in, but that’s not what we want to be like at North Idaho Dermatology,” Ely said. “We want patients to be able to get in the next day or the same week.”

He said some patients may have serious health issues, such as skin cancer, that require immediate attention.

“We don’t want those things to wait,” Ely said.

The extra room will allow the company to add more providers, Ely said. North Idaho Dermatology has eight providers but plans to add one more in July, another one in 2019, and perhaps more in 2020.

In addition to freeing up space for providers and patients, Ely said the new office will allow North Idaho Dermatology to be seen from Northwest Boulevard, helping improve the business’ visibility in the community.

“This was a great opportunity to further become a part of the [Riverstone] neighborhood and the Coeur d’Alene community,” he said.

Spokane-based Bernardo|Wills Architects PC is the architect for the project, and Ginno Construction Co. is the contractor.

North Idaho Dermatology has been in Coeur d’Alene since 1999 and employs 70 people in addition to the eight providers.

The clinic treats acne, eczema, precancerous lesions, psoriasis and skin cancer. Cosmetic services include Botox, chemical peels, laser treatments and waxing services. NID also provides dermatology services such as Mohs surgery and other skin cancer procedures.

North Idaho Dermatology also has locations in Sandpoint, Moscow, and Liberty Lake, Wash.
