GUNS: Wrong question asked

| February 25, 2018 12:00 AM

As students walk out of school to demonstrate and protest the most recent school shooting, they all seem to be asking “How?” How did the shooter get the rifle? How did the shooter get into the school? How can we allow people to buy such weapons?

Perhaps an additional and possibly better question they could be asking is “Why?” Why did we tease, bully, humiliate, shun and torment this student? Why did we not accept these students simply because they did not meet our idea of what is normal clothing or normal interests? Is it possible that if “Why” was addressed with as much passion as “How,” things might begin to change?
