GUNS: We've had enough

| February 25, 2018 12:00 AM

When is enough, enough? How many more kids have to die at school? How many more teachers and coaches have to die protecting our children? When is it time to talk about it? Politicians on TV say we can’t “politicize” these incidents. Really? If I had lost my child in a school shooting that could have been prevented, I’d damned straight want to “politicize” it!

For the record, I am a gun owner and I believe in the Second Amendment. However, I do not believe that the Second Amendment means every man, woman and child has a right to an AR-15! I do not believe that is what the Founding Fathers meant when they wrote the Bill of Rights.

Last year, the very first piece of legislation that was passed by the Trump administration was a bill sponsored by Chuck Grassley that rolled back a law that had made it harder for those with mental problems to get a gun. It passed both chambers of Congress and was signed by Trump! Now Congress says we need to do more to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. Really? These are the biggest hypocrites in the world!

I for one plan on becoming a one-issue voter. I will only support candidates who support common sense gun control. We need to start a movement! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
