GUNS: Hold schools accountable

| February 25, 2018 12:00 AM

Given the frequency of school shootings it would seem that schools should have a higher degree of accountability in preventing people that are carrying metallic weapons from passing through their doors. Metal detector entryways is not a new high tech idea. Airports for one have been utilizing them for decades.

The FBI has clearly dropped the ball regarding several shooting tragedies, which makes it obvious that schools can’t depend on outside resources to protect the students that are attending their facility. If the additional cost of implementing security systems and the personnel to manage them requires state or federal subsidies, then so be it. Even churches are beginning to or have already established security plans to deal with potential shootings. They don’t depend on the FBI or some other distant entity to protect their local facilities.
