GUNS: Don't arm teachers

| February 25, 2018 12:00 AM

I am so impressed with the thinking and attitudes of the high school students I see reacting to the school-shooting problems that we’re faced with. What a refreshing thing to see such intelligence and “statesmanship” among our young people. There is hope for the nation.

Arming the teachers would serve no purpose whatsoever, as a high school student would agree in contrast with the thinking of our Republican politicians. Armed teachers would do nothing in a large city school to halt a crazy shooter. I shouldn’t have to explain the obvious reasons for that.

The ONLY feasible (and simple) method of reducing the chances of such MASS killings is the obvious, as I’ve heard a high school student explain: keeping assault weapons from the hands of mentally unbalanced people. And since mentally unbalanced people are not easily identified, then, out of the hands of anyone except military or law enforcement. Period. Enough said! Not debatable.

Nobody needs a mass killing weapon, not even a “well-regulated militia.” It’s enough that “the militia” has the weapons already, so let’s keep them from the general populace.

It’s simple: No manufacturer can sell to any dealer, apart from the military or law enforcement. Period.

No infringement whatsoever on the Second Amendment. I still keep my rifles, my shotguns, my plinking pistols. My self-defense weapons. The militia is regulated. Regulated.
