On Friday, Dr. Neil Nemec became the 50th elected official in Kootenai County to voluntarily share basic information about his personal finances.

Since January, local officials have stepped forward to disclose financial information to voters and other citizens. The intent is to be open about areas that might present a potential conflict of interest.

Many other local elected officials and appointees who oversee public dollars have not followed the path of transparency. They’re invited to send this basic information to Press editor Mike Patrick: mpatrick@cdapress.com
