Six Timberwolves qualified by winning the third-place match, in which the loser didn’t qualify. “In three of the matches, we beat kids that had beaten us all year,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said, noting in one of the matches, the T-Wolves beat an opponent they were 0-5 against the last three years. “That’s probably the most fun 30 minutes I’ve had coaching in a while,” Owen said.

Notes: Lakeland, which qualified 16 wrestlers for state, is aiming for the program’s first title since a 3A crown in 1989. The Hawks have finished fourth, second and third the last three years ... Johnson (37-1) is bidding to become the first four-time individual champion at Lakeland, but he’s seeded second at 145, thanks to a loss to Christian Hudson (38-0) of Caldwell in the finals at the Rollie Lane tournament in Nampa in January. Hudson is the No. 1 seed ... The team record for individual champions in one tournament is four set by Columbia ... Alex Edelblute, Sam Edelblute and William Edelblute — all nephews of coach Rob Edelblute — are also defending individual champions for the Hawks.

Notes: Ririe has won the past three team titles ... Hall finished third last year at 160 for St. Maries, which finished 12th. St. Maries won the 2A District 1-2 title last week.
